so good, huge portions, meat was so tender, spicy very tasty, everything was delicious. my only regret is that I was so full that I could not try out dessert. I can't say anything about the price because I went as hosing something on the menu it seemed really comfortable.

perfect traditional Hungarian dishes! meal was delicious and full of taste. the personal was also very nice. great value for money. 100% recommended.
Last night we visited hegyalja csárda to order an evening meal, and we wanted to taste something real Hungarian. we were recommended by a very nice waitress (speaking fluent English) to have marhapörkölt with galuska and cigánypecsenye with fritten. both were delicious! It's a pity that we didn't have time to taste anything more.

Based on TripAdvisor it's the 2nd best restaurant in the town. No question that it's a well deserved rating. Delicious food, friendly stuff, big portions, rich menu. Visit Hegyalja Csárda if you want to have good time and value for money service.

We've traveled a lot in Europe and the United States... plus Hong Kong. This place ranks right up there as far as the best food in the world. Seriously. I had the Chef's Style Pork Cutlet. This is some pounded pork with various organ meat, potatoes and some spices (paprika, of course). It would be a heavy dish, except it is complimented with lightly pickled cabbage and cucumbers on the side. This cuts the heaviness amazingly well. It also comes with tomatos that have real flavor, rather than the garbage tomatoes that are usually served in the States. My wife had pork with lecsó. She loved it. But, I'm telling you, if you love meat, get what I ordered. Just make sure to come hungry, because it's a big meal. This meal would be absolutely perfect if they had Staropramen beer on tap, but sadly they didn't and I had to make do with Gösser, which is probably the best Austrian beer... but, I don't particularly like Austrian beers. Perhaps other people do as this beer is very popular. If you happen to be in Zalaegerszeg, it is worthwhile to go a bit out of your way to visit this restaurant. You won't regret it. Egészségére!
First review: Great food, but the service not all too friendly. Nice location with atmosphere. Because of lack of good service, only 3star score. Going back soon, may adjust my rating ... Update: we went back and got better service. 4star now :
